Canada has created a new migration program.
Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 286 thousand Ukrainian asylum seekers.
This is evidenced by data from the Canada Border Agency, writes Ukrinform.
It is noted that under the Canada-Ukraine Emergency Travel Authorization (CUAET) program, created in March of the year before last, 286,752 Ukrainians have so far arrived in Canada. This program gives Ukrainians who fled the war the right to an immediate three-year work and residence permit in Canada, as well as financial assistance and temporary free settlement. Acceptance of new applications for this program was closed last summer and everyone who wanted to take advantage of it had to come to Canada by the end of March 2024.
In total, the Canadian government has received almost 1.2 million applications for this visa, of which it has approved more than 960 thousand.
Reminder: although accepting new applications for participation in CUAET has already been stopped, Canada has created a new migration program allowing certain categories of Ukrainian asylum seekers to remain in the country on a permanent basis.
Recall that Canada allows the deployment of its troops in Ukraine, but they named the condition.
