Great Britain is ready to evacuate its troops from Ukraine if Russia invades the country. It is reported by the British edition of the Daily Express.

“Army commanders should conduct a full 'peer review' of Operation Orbital to ensure that all British troops can be 'safely withdrawn' if Moscow brings in troops,” the newspaper writes.

According to the Daily Express, the decision to evacuate will be made by the chief of the British Joint Operations Directorate of the headquarters, Colonel General Charlie Strickland.

Most of the British troops are located in the city of Yavoriv, Lviv region of Ukraine – the military will be withdrawn from there to the Polish border, sources of the publication said. A small group of soldiers is in Kiev and will also be sent to the border. The Odessa Marine staff is in the UK for Christmas.

On December 19, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced that London had refused to send its military to defend Ukraine in the event of an allegedly planned Russian invasion. He said that despite Kiev's desire to join NATO, the country is not a member of the alliance, and therefore no one has a desire to stand up for it. Wallace added that sending British troops to Ukraine is “highly unlikely.”
