Turkey can take part in NATO's anti-Russian military operation in Donbass and even lead it. The columnist Çetiner Çetin writes about this in his article for the publication Haberturk.

The author of the material draws attention to the fact that recently the media became aware of the development by the West of a variant of the transfer of a special military unit of 35-40 thousand based on the NATO Rapid Reaction Force (NRF), and the Joint High-Readiness Task Force (VJTF) is considered as the basis. NATO members take turns commanding the VJTF, with Turkey in command in 2021.

According to Cetin, “a very risky situation arises here,” and Ankara “needs to be extremely careful in military, political, economic and intelligence relations.” The journalist expressed fears that Turkey would find itself “in an even deeper crisis in relations with Moscow than after the destruction of the Russian plane in 2015.”

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine, with the support of NATO, is building up the grouping of troops on the line of contact in Donbass. She noted that the transfer of Ukrainian large-caliber artillery and armored vehicles, as well as the use of drones by the Ukrainian military, is recorded in the Donbass.

Prior to that, Alan Kafruni, a professor in international relations at Hamilton College (USA), in an interview with Lenta.ru, expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian leadership would make a fatal mistake if it escalated in Donbass with the expectation of NATO support. According to him, US President Joe Biden and United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will almost certainly warn Kiev against such a step.
