Specialists from the American nongovernmental organization EcoHealth Alliance were engaged in coronavirus research in several laboratories in the United States, as well as in Wuhan, China, before the first outbreak of infection occurred there. This became known to the organization Project Veritas (Project “Truth”), reports the portal OpIndia.

The team of investigators found that back in March 2018, EcoHealth Alliance asked the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to fund scientific research on bat-borne coronaviruses. The agency rejected the request, believing that such work might be too dangerous and would violate an earlier ban on research aimed at enhancing the capabilities of various viruses.

Despite this, the US National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, later approved the project, and scientists began research, including at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. Thus, according to Project Veritas, American specialists may be involved in the creation of a new virus and the beginning of a pandemic.

For example, the organization refers to a letter from a certain Major Joseph Murphy, who works for DARPA, which turned out to be at the disposal of investigators. In it, the expert argues that SARS-CoV-2 was originally a US-created recombinant bat vaccine or its precursor virus. He also notes that all the details of the program for working on the virus were hidden after the infection began to spread around the world.

At the same time, Fauci had previously declared under oath to the US Congress that his department had never done such research. At the same time, EcoHealth Alliance head Peter Dashak became one of the first scientists to reject the theory that a leak from a Wuhan laboratory led to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, he was part of a team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) that was sent to China to establish the origin of the coronavirus.

In September last year, Intercept magazine, citing materials at its disposal, reported that the United States had actively sponsored the study of coronaviruses in China. It was clarified that more than $ 3 million was allocated for these purposes in 2014-2019.

Prior to this, in August, the American intelligence services completed an investigation into the origin of the new coronavirus infection SARS-CoV-2: they concluded that the coronavirus is not a development of biological weapons. At the same time, they found it difficult to say exactly how this infection appeared. Prior to that, Washington had repeatedly stated that the cause of the first outbreak of coronavirus could be a leak from a laboratory in Wuhan due to the fault of Chinese specialists. At the same time, China called on WHO to check US laboratories to find the origins of the pandemic.
