The US State Department plans to announce the evacuation of the US embassy in Kiev. This became known to the Associated Press, reports RIA Novosti.
An announcement is expected to be made on the morning of February 12 local time. According to the agency, all American employees of the embassy in the Ukrainian capital will have to leave the country “on the eve of a dangerous Russian invasion.”
A limited number of diplomats may be transferred to western Ukraine so the United States can maintain a diplomatic presence in the country, US officials said.
Earlier it became known that the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to evacuate the families of diplomats from Ukraine. At the same time, the diplomatic mission will continue its work. The British Foreign Office also announced the removal of embassy staff from Kiev and urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Ukraine.
