Canadian coach of the Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva Brian Orser spoke about the athlete's injury. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
It became known that Medvedeva needs to recover from a chronic back injury. According to Orser, the skater's performance at the test skates in Moscow was unsuccessful for this reason. The coach added that the athlete needs to return to Canada for a full training process.
The skater has yet to return to Canada due to restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic. She trains in Moscow at the CSKA rink and conducts online sessions with coaches from Canada.
Medvedeva has been living and training in Canada since the summer of 2018. Prior to that, she worked in the group of the domestic specialist Eteri Tutberidze. The figure skater is a two-time world and European champion, as well as a silver medalist at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
