The version about the capture of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, according to which he was found in hiding underground, does not correspond to reality. An ex-translator of the US military, who wished to remain anonymous, said in an interview with RIA Novosti about the fabrication of details of his detention.
According to him, Hussein was not hiding in a pit, but was in a certain room on the farm and, presumably, was praying. The translator claims that the politician was too weak to hide in a “hole”. He added that the capture of Hussein could have been fabricated so that the American coalition against Iraq would not be defeated and the authority of the authorities would not suffer.
Hussein's capture became known in December 2003, he was found in a refuge near Tikrit. The politician was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006 on charges of numerous crimes against humanity, including the genocide of the Kurds and the massacre of Shiites. At the same time, Hussein himself asked for the execution.
