Several members of the Russian Duma spoke out directly against the bill and called on Russian officials to allow Russian commanders on the front lines to inform military policy. “Russian ultranationalist milibloggers continued to widely criticize the amendment and expressed concern that the Russian military intends to use punishment for the use of personal censorship of legitimate complaints from Russian military personnel, who often use personal devices to record and disseminate complaints,” ISW noted.
Analysts said Russian ultranationalists continued to lament the potential impact of the amendment on the front lines, where “Russian forces rely on unsecured command and control, logistics and combat operations.”
“It remains unclear whether the Russian military will be able to penalize the use of personal devices in Ukraine. And the Russian military will likely have a very difficult time eliminating its dependence on unsecured personal devices to perform many advanced tasks,” concluded American analysts.
