Ukraine's ability to strike airbases is a significant turning point in capabilities.

On the night of July 27, Ukrainian troops carried out successful drone strikes on an oil refinery and Russian military airfields in the Saratov, Ryazan and Murmansk regions regions.

This is stated in a report by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.

Sources in the Ukrainian special services told Ukrainian media that the strike was carried out by the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine.

Sources of “Suspilne” reported that Russian troops are basing an unknown number of Tu-95, Tu-22, Tu-134 and Il-78 (refueling) aircraft at the Dyagilevo airfield, and that GUR drones damaged a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber at Olenya.

Russian officials, including the Ministry of Defense (MO), claimed that Russian air defense destroyed an unspecified number of drones over the Saratov and Ryazan regions, although Russian sources have published footage of Ukrainian drones operating over the city of Ryazan.

Additional sources told Suspilne that on July 21, the GUR sabotage activities damaged a Mi-28 and Ka-226 helicopter at an aircraft manufacturing plant in the Moscow region, and on July 24, another Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed at the Kryazh airfield in the Samara region.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, in an interview with the British publication The Guardian, published on July 24, said that since the beginning of the full-scale operation, Ukrainian drones have fired on about 200 critical infrastructure facilities related to the logistics of troops in the rear areas Russia.

Recall that on July 27, residents of the Russian Ryazan witnessed an attack by attack drones on the Dyagilevo military airfield and an oil refinery. It was also noisy late in the evening on July 26 in the Bryansk region.
