ISS resumed searching for air leaks

The International Space Station (ISS) resumed the search for air leaks in the Russian Zvezda module. Such data follow from the negotiations of the astronauts with the Earth, which are broadcast by NASA, RIA Novosti reports.

The search for a leak in the intermediate chamber of the Zvezda module was interrupted two months ago. At the end of April, the crew closed the hatch into the leaky compartment.

During the negotiations, it was reported that cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov opened the hatch and examined various places with the help of a leak detector. However, he was unable to locate obvious air leaks.

An air leak on the ISS was discovered back in September 2019. In October 2020, the crew found the first crack in the intermediate chamber of the Zvezda module and repaired it in March 2021. It is noted that the crack did not threaten either the station or the crew. In the same month, a second crack was repaired, but the leak did not stop. The astronauts continued to search for leaks and their sealing, but work was suspended at the end of April.
