The plane of the Israeli airline El Al with such a hashtag on board landed in Germany at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) on the eve of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, celebrated on January 27, on the anniversary of the liberation of the most famous death camp of the “Third Reich” – Auschwitz, which was located on the territory Poland.

The inscription was placed on the plane as part of a global campaign against anti-Semitism. It is initiated by the World Jewish Congress and is held under the motto: “Learn From The Past. Protect The Future”. At the helm of the liner was the El Al pilot Ofer Aloni, the grandson of Jews killed by the Nazis. “I am sure that my grandparents would be proud that their grandson is flying an Israeli plane with an Israeli flag to Germany today,” he said before leaving.
Commemorative events in Germany
In Germany, commemorative events dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day will be held in memorials on the site of former concentration camps and in other places associated with the persecution and massacre of Jews. On January 27, Germany also celebrates the Day of Remembrance of All Victims of National Socialism, who died in concentration and labor camps, prisons, forced labor and euthanasia centers.
A special meeting on Wednesday 27 January will take place in the Bundestag. This year, the chairman of the Jewish community of Munich and Upper Bavaria, Charlotte Knobloch, and the representative of the Green Party, a publicist, a native of Ukraine Marina Weisband, will speak at the federal parliament.
