Israel will start paying money to return plastic bottles to make the country cleaner

The head of the Israeli Environment Ministry, Gila Gamliel, said that it was decided to extend the law on the return of the collateral value to one and a half liter plastic containers.

According to the minister, this will allow citizens to earn money by collecting used bottles, and to protect the environment from plastic thrown anywhere.

The new provision of the law is expected to come into effect in a year and will allow waste recycling companies to expand and create new jobs.

The law was passed in 2001. At the same time, large beverage companies founded a recycling corporation in Israel. It was originally agreed that the factories are non-profit enterprises and cannot profit from their activities.

Previously, the law on the return of the collateral value applied only to small containers and made it possible to earn 25 agoras (about 6 rubles) on it for each collected unit. According to the regulation, everyone can become a client of the garbage recycling corporation, and when collecting more than 1200 used bottles, the company sends a truck for their removal free of charge.
