The far-right Otzma Yehudit party will submit the bill to the Knesset National Security Committee on Monday.

Israel's National Security Council plans to discuss a bill next week that would reinstate the death penalty in the country.

The Times of Israel reports this.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir plans to send a bill to the Knesset that would impose the death penalty for those accused of terrorism.

He said he would submit a bill prepared by his far-right Otzma Yehudit party to the Knesset National Security Committee on Monday.

“I expect all Knesset members to support this important bill,” he writes.

It is reported that the Knesset will discuss the consequences of such a decision, as well as the reaction of the international community.

The proposed legislation, if passed, would require courts to impose the death penalty on those convicted of murdering an Israeli citizen if their actions are found to have racist motives.

The publication recalled that in the entire history of the country the death penalty has been applied twice. The last person to be executed was Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann in 1962.

Let us recall that earlier the Israeli army announced that they were expanding operations in the Gaza Strip, in particular in the Zeitoun areas of Gaza City and Jabaliya .

In addition, we previously reported that militants of the Hamas terrorist group stopped negotiations for the release of the hostages .
