Израиль угрожает войной на территории Ливана: в чем причина

A representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry demands that the Hezbollah movement, which is located in southern Lebanon, be recognized as a terrorist organization.

Israel threatens a full-scale war in Lebanon if Hezbollah does not withdraw its fighters from the southern part of the country.

This was announced on Sunday, July 28 by the official representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Oren Marmorstein on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

He recalled yesterday's shelling of the village of Majdal Shams in the northern Golan Heights, controlled by Israel, when 12 people, mostly children and teenagers, were killed on a football field. Israel blames the militants of the Hezbollah group, which operates in Lebanon and is supported by Iran.

Marmorstein called for declaring the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization, imposing “devastating sanctions” on Iran, and declaring Hezbollah a terrorist organization and “holding it fully responsible for the horrific massacre of children.”

“Israel will exercise its right and duty to act in self-defense and respond to the massacre. The only way the world can prevent a full-scale war that would have devastating consequences for Lebanon as well is to force Hezbollah to comply with [UN] Security Council Resolution 1701,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman wrote in a statement. Israel.

Resolution 1701, adopted by the UN Security Council on August 11, 2006, was aimed at de-escalating the fighting between Hezbollah and Israel. It contains a demand to clear the area between the Litani River in southern Lebanon and the “Blue Line” dividing that country and Israel from “any armed personnel, forces, assets and weapons” except those belonging to the Lebanese government forces and the UN forces in that area.

Hezbollah representatives deny the charges of an attack that led to the deaths of children, claiming responsibility only for the strike on a military headquarters on the slope of Mount Hermon, 3 km from the football field.

Recall that Israel was subjected to massive rocket attacks from Lebanese territory on the evening of Saturday, July 27. One rocket hit a playground in the village of Majdal Shams, where there were many children and teenagers at the time.
