Israel is ready to give a decisive response to any violation of the ceasefire terms by Iran .

This was stated by Israel's permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, during a meeting of the Security Council, CNN reports.

Danon also joined Israeli officials in thanking US President Donald Trump for his role in brokering the ceasefire.

“Israel has dealt a serious blow to Iran with its attacks on Iranian regime targets,” he said.

Regarding the possibility of starting direct negotiations with Tehran, the diplomat expressed cautious optimism, but noted that it was too early to talk about it.

“I believe this will happen soon,” Danone said.

An assessment of the damage caused by the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities has also not yet been given.

“We know that we were able to push back Iran's nuclear program. We were able to eliminate the looming threat,” the Israeli diplomat emphasized.

In addition, Danon hinted that Israel is ready for new steps to improve relations with Arab countries in the region.

“It is time to build bridges and create new partnerships in the Middle East,” Israel's UN envoy said.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reported to have said that Israel had “achieved a historic victory” over Iran.

We previously reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also said his country had achieved a “historic victory.”
