The leaflets were distributed amid increased Israeli military strikes.
On Saturday, October 19, Israeli jets dropped leaflets over the southern Gaza Strip depicting dead Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and declaring that “Hamas will no longer be rule Gaza,” quoting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This was reported by Reuters, citing local residents who posted leaflets on social networks.
“Whoever lays down their arms and hand over the hostages will be allowed to leave the country and live in peace,” the leaflet, written in Arabic, reads.
The wording in the leaflet's text was taken from a statement Netanyahu made after Sinwar was killed by Israeli soldiers operating in Rafah near the Egyptian border.
The leaflets were distributed amid an intensification of Israeli military strikes, during which, according to Palestinian officials, at least 35 people were killed in the Gaza Strip.
Gaza residents and local medics said Israeli troops had tightened the siege of Jabaliya, the largest of the enclave's eight historic camps, which they had surrounded, and sent tanks into the neighboring towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, issuing evacuation orders.
Recall that on Thursday evening, October 17, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar opened the way to peace in the Middle East. He added that the war in the Gaza Strip will not end until Israel returns the hostages to their homes.
