Israel says the number of hostages held by Hamas has increased – what is the figure?

Israel has named the approximate number of hostages held by Hamas militants.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the estimated number of hostages held by Hamas militants since the October 7 attack on the country has risen to 212.

The Hill reports this.

According to preliminary estimates, Hamas held at least 203 people hostage.
