IDF forces are located in the center of Gaza.
Palestinian Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is surrounded in his bunker in the Gaza Strip.
This was stated by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Sky News reports.
Gallant confirmed that Israeli army forces are in the center of Gaza.
The Defense Minister also said that the Hamas leader is surrounded in a bunker in the Gaza Strip. Gallant did not specify where Sinvar's bunker was located.
At the same time, Israeli Army Major General Yaron Finkelman said that “for the first time in decades, the IDF is fighting in the center of Gaza City. In the center of terrorism.”
“Every day and every hour (Israeli – ed.) forces kill militants, open tunnels and destroy weapons, continue to move towards enemy centers,” Finkelman said.
Who is Yahya Sinwar
Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar is the current leader of the Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip, one of the founders of the organization's military wing and one of the co-founders of the security apparatus. In 2015, the US listed Sinwar as a terrorist and designated Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Recall that on November 6, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they had officially completely surrounded Gaza City and divided the strip into northern and southern parts.
On the night of November 7, it became known that the Israeli military began to advance deeper into Gaza City as part of an operation against Hamas militants.
