An Israeli publication claims that the Israeli Prime Minister and the US President have agreed on an imminent ceasefire.
On Thursday, June 26, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the results of the war with Iran offer opportunities for peace that his country must not squander.
Reuters reports this.
“This victory opens the door to a dramatic expansion of the peace agreements. We are working on this with enthusiasm,” Netanyahu said.
On the same day, Israel Hayom, citing an anonymous source, reported that Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump had agreed during a telephone conversation this week to end the war in the Gaza Strip soon, possibly within two weeks.
The Israeli publication claims that the agreement could include an expansion of the Abraham Accords with Israel's Arab neighbors, including Saudi Arabia and Syria.
A US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran announced by Trump has raised Palestinian hopes for an end to more than 20 months of war in Gaza that has left the territory largely devastated and displaced most of its residents, leading to widespread famine.
Netanyahu said on Sunday that once Iran is weakened, he expects more countries to join the Abraham Accords.
“We have broken the Axis. This is a huge change, and Israel's status is growing not only in the Middle East but in the world. This is a tectonic shift. We will see a bright new future, security, prosperity, hope and peace,” the Israeli Prime Minister emphasized.
Recall that earlier US President Donald Trump stated that the conflict between Iran and Israel had been resolved
At the same time, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a video address that his country had “defeated” Israel and given “a loud slap in the face to America.”
