Israel prepares for operation in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah – The Times

The IDF wants to push back "Hezbollah" to the Litani River, approximately 20 km from the border.

Israel may start a ground war in southern Lebanon against the Hezbollah group.

Gordon writes about this, citing the British edition of The Times.

The Israel Defense Forces are seeking to push Hezbollah troops back to the Litana River, about 20 kilometers from the Israeli border. Israel is concerned that the north of the country could be hit by an attack similar to the one that occurred on October 7.

“What happened in the south is nothing compared to what they can do here. Israel's doctrine is to take the war to the other side,” a senior Israeli army officer told The Times.

The Israeli government is discussing how big a threat Hezbollah is to the country. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant believes the country must further strengthen deterrence in the north. This month, Gallant announced that Hezbollah should move its forces north of the Litani River.

“We want to restore peace, and we will do it through agreement or force with all the consequences that entails,” said Galant.

It became known earlier that Israel and Hamas militants are ready to negotiate a new truce for the release of hostages held by terrorists.
