The Israeli authorities plan to be the first in the world to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. This was stated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, quoted by the i24news TV channel.
“Israel is likely to be the first country to emerge from the coronavirus crisis in the coming weeks,” Netanyahu said. He expressed hope that by the end of next week Israel will start vaccinating 100,000 people a day. At the same time, according to the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Hezi Levy, Israel is already the world leader in the number of vaccinations against coronavirus per capita.
Mass vaccination against coronavirus started in Israel last Sunday. Netanyahu was the first in the country to be vaccinated against the coronavirus with the Pfizer vaccine. According to the politician, he wanted to serve as a personal example for all Israelis.
Earlier, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben-Zvi reported that the country plans to buy from Russia one and a half million doses of Sputnik V vaccine. He specified that the vaccine is now being tested by the Israeli Ministry of Health and, if successful, will be purchased.
