The strike on the port of Hodeidah was a response to yesterday's Houthi attack on Tel Aviv.
Israel confirmed the retaliatory strike carried out in Saturday, July 20, at a fuel depot and oil refinery near the Yemeni port of Hodeida.
The Times of Israel writes about this.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel struck the Houthis in Yemen in response to an attack on Tel Aviv, where an Israeli citizen was killed in a drone strike on Friday morning.
“The fire that is now burning in Hodeidah is visible throughout the Middle East, and its significance is obvious. The Houthis have attacked us more than 200 times. The first time they harmed an Israeli citizen, we struck them. And we will do it in any place where it may be needed,” Gallant emphasized.
Two nights ago, Yemen hit Tel Aviv with a suicide drone.
Today, we gave them our reply.

Iran-backed Yemeni rebels have launched more than 200 drones and cruise missiles at Israel since November, according to the military. Most of them were intercepted by American forces, and in a few cases by Israeli fighters and ground-based air defense systems.
The Houthis claimed large numbers of dead and wounded in the attack on the port and promised that Israel would “pay a heavy price for it.”

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told a press conference that the aircraft involved in the attack on the port of Hodeida in Yemen, returned safely to Israel.
After the strike on Yemen, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video message and called on the international community to step up measures against Iran and its proxies.
“Anyone who wants to see a stable and secure Middle East must stand up to the axis of evil and support Israel's fight against Iran and its proxies – in Yemen, in the Gaza Strip, in Lebanon, everywhere,” Netanyahu said.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the port of Hodeida was not chosen as a target by chance – the Houthis used it as an entry point for weapons supplied to them by Iran.
Netanyahu also stressed that the Houthis are threatening freedom of navigation on one of the busiest shipping routes in the world.
Recall that powerful explosions occurred in Tel Aviv on the morning of July 19. Militants attacked the city using a new type of drone. At least one person was killed and eight were injured.
