Israel has preliminarily approved a proposed agreement with the terrorist organization Hezbollah on a ceasefire in Lebanon. The agreement must be finally approved by the cabinet.

Ynet reported this, citing Israeli, American and Lebanese sources.

US Special Envoy for the Region and Emissary Amos Goxtin informed Lebanese officials of Israel's decision on November 24.

According to a source cited by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, Goxtin threatened the Israeli authorities to stop mediation efforts if the country does not agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon in the near future.

The US Special Envoy said on November 20 that negotiations on a ceasefire on the Lebanon-Israel border are progressing in a constructive manner. Gokstin also announced that he would travel to Israel, where he would discuss Lebanon's response to the American draft agreement to end the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

According to Al Nahar, this document provides for the parties' agreement to a 60-day transition period, during which a ceasefire must be established, and the Israeli military must gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory. In addition, it is assumed that the army of this country will be deployed in the border areas in southern Lebanon with the support of the UN Interim Force.

Recall that on November 18, Hezbollah fired rockets at central Israel. Civilians were injured.
