Israel gains ability to strike Iran's nuclear facilities

The destruction of Syrian air defense systems provides a safer flight for Israeli Air Force aircraft.

The Israel Defense Forces, after the weakening of Iranian proxy groups in the Middle East and the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, received the opportunity to strike nuclear facilities Iran.

The Times of Israel reports this, citing sources in military circles.

According to the publication, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) believes that Iran, which has found itself isolated after the collapse of the Syrian regime and the loss of influence of its key puppet group Hezbollah in Lebanon, may accelerate the implementation of its nuclear program.

In an attempt to replenish its lost deterrent forces, Tehran will likely continue to develop nuclear weapons, and in such a scenario, the Israeli leadership may decide to carry out preemptive strikes on Iranian facilities, writes The Times of Israel.

The implementation of such an intention became possible after more than 85% of the Assad regime's air defense systems were destroyed during recent airstrikes. The air advantage over Syria could provide safer passage for Israeli aircraft to strike Iran, the military said.

107 separate air defense components and 47 radars were destroyed in Syria. These figures include 80% of the short- and medium-range air defense systems known as Pantsir-S1 and 90% of the Russian medium-range Buk air defense systems.

“The Syrian air defense system is one of the most powerful in the Middle East, and the strike against it is a significant achievement of the air force's advantage in the region,” the IDF said in a statement.

Recall that earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israeli forces to seize areas of Syria in the Golan Heights buffer zone.
