Israel expanded its ground operation in the Gaza Strip, and Hamas said that on the morning of October 31, its militants fired anti-tank missiles at the Israeli military.
Reuters reports this.
Israel has expanded its ground operation in the Gaza Strip to punish the ruling Hamas movement there for a deadly armed attack on October 7 that killed more than 1,400 people.
The publication, citing eyewitnesses, reports that on October 30, Israeli troops attacked the main road of Gaza from north to south and the city itself in two directions.
At the same time, Israel said that troops had freed a soldier from Hamas captivity, one of 239 hostages taken by the militants on October 7.
Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said the militants encountered “invading Israeli forces (inclusive) in the southern Gaza axis with machine guns on the morning of October 31 and fired at four vehicles with Al-Yasin 105 rockets.” We are talking about locally produced anti-tank missiles.
Al-Qassam said militants also fired rockets at two Israeli tanks and a bulldozer in northwestern Gaza.
Reuters could not confirm the report of fighting. The Israeli military did not comment.
Let us recall that the day before, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said that on the morning of October 30, Israeli tanks reached the outskirts of Gaza City and cut off the key Palestinian route from north to south.
