The Israel Defense Forces' press service declined to comment on reports of missile strikes in the area of the Syrian seaport of Latakia. Writes about this TASS.

“We do not comment on foreign media reports,” said a spokeswoman for the Israeli military.

Israel attacked Latakia, near which the Russian Khmeimim airbase is located, earlier on December 28. The missiles were fired into Syria at about 3:21 (at that time it was 4:21 in Moscow). The target of the Israeli army was a container yard at a trading port in Latakia. As a result of the missile hit, a fire broke out. This led to a lot of material damage, but the amount was not reported.

Syrian air defense systems were used to repel the air attack.

The Russian base Khmeimim, located near Latakia, has existed in Syria since 2015. It is located about 30 kilometers from the Syrian-Turkish border.
