Over the past two years, Israel has blown up a dozen ships carrying Iranian oil to Syria. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed American and Middle Eastern officials.
For attacks on ships loaded with oil, naval mines were also used. In some cases, Israel has prevented the supply of other goods, such as weapons.
It is clarified that the attacks were dictated by Israel's fears that the proceeds from Iran would go to sponsor extremists in the region. Tehran itself reported only part of the attacks, but often blamed Israel for them.
In particular, on October 11, 2019, it became known that an explosion and fire had occurred on an Iranian tanker carrying oil. It happened in the Red Sea, about 100 kilometers from the Saudi port city of Jeddah. As a result, none of the crew members was injured, and the situation on board was taken under control. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani later said the ship was attacked with rockets.
