The Israel Defense Forces officially announced the killing in The Gaza Strip of the leader of the militant wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif. He was liquidated on July 13th.
The IDF announced this on August 1 on the social network X.
“We can now confirm: Muhammad Deif has been eliminated,” the short statement reads.
As reported by the Ediot Ahronoth publication, Deif, who had previously survived seven assassination attempts, was killed in an attack on the city of Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip. His assistant, Hamas brigade commander Raf Salameh, was also killed. The Israeli military carried out an airstrike in the south of the Gaza Strip on July 13.

As Israeli military analyst Yigal Levin stated, Deif was personally involved in the preparation of many terrorist attacks on Israel, “fought against the Jewish state for more than 20 years and was one of the most dangerous terrorists.” Levin called Deif “number two” in the Hamas hierarchy in the Gaza Strip.
Recall that the day before, the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in Tehran.
