In Israel they say that the operation will continue until Hamas is completely eliminated.
Israeli the military completed the destruction of the Hamas “military structure” in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated this, reports The Times of Israel.
“We have completed the elimination of the Hamas military base in the northern part of the Strip and we will continue to deepen the achievements, strengthen the barrier and defensive structures on the border,” Hagari said.
He said that fighting terrorism takes time, so it took three months to destroy Hamas structures in the north of the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, Hagari noted that the threat from Hamas still remains, despite the fact that its structure has been destroyed in the north of the Gaza Strip.
“We have struck, and we will continue to strike, and continue to deepen gains in these areas, but it will take time,” noted Hagari.
He stated that the IDF is now focused on eliminating Hamas in central and southern Gaza.
“We will do this in other ways, carefully, based on the lessons we have learned from the fighting at this time,” the speaker emphasized.
He said the refugee camps in central Gaza were “dense and full of terrorists” and that Khan Yunis was “an underground city with extensive tunnels.”
“This will take time, the fighting will continue through 2024. We are working according to plan to achieve the goals of the war: eliminate Hamas in the center and south and continue all efforts, intelligence, operational and military pressure to return the hostages,” said the IDF spokesman.
He added that the army is also building new defenses along the Gaza border to allow residents displaced since October 7 to return to their homes.
Recall that it was previously reported that Hamas froze negotiations with Israel after the murder of one of the group’s leaders.
In addition, we previously reported that Israel eliminated one of the Hamas representatives in the suburbs of Beirut.
