High losses of Russian aviation most likely led to to a significant decrease in its activity in the east of Ukraine.
This was reported by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.
According to analysts, the Russian army probably has about 300 different fighters from the Sukhoi Design Bureau.
Previous aircraft losses have prompted Russian forces to temporarily reduce air activity throughout Ukraine for significant periods of time, although it remains unclear how long the current “pause” will last.
ISW experts also suggest that Russian forces may continue to accept increased air losses and continue to attempt to strike KABs in support of Russian offensive operations. In this case, the Russian command will probably consciously accept the risk of continuing to count aviation losses in pursuit of further successes in eastern Ukraine.
In February 2024, Ukrainian forces were able to eliminate a large number of Russian aircraft along the front line in the Eastern direction. Russian troops have lost 15 aircraft since February 17. This was a response to the increase in enemy air presence in this area.
In just a week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to destroy seven Russian Sushkas. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky addressed the defenders of the sky and thanked them for their accuracy.
