The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported on the identification of wiretapped household appliances in the Russian sale. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to representatives of the department.
Vasily Shpak, director of the radio-electronic industry department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, spoke about finding foreign-made irons with built-in spy equipment. “There are bookmarks. We saw a couple of irons with microphones. Regular iron. With a microphone, ”Shpak said. The official warned the Russians about the appearance of this type of household appliances, noting that the bookmarks in electrical engineering are not fiction.
Shpak could not tell for what purpose spy equipment was installed in the irons and how a household appliance could record and transmit recorded data. The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade summed up that a certain method of communication is required to transmit data from a microphone.
Shpak also did not reveal the names of the iron models in which the bookmarks were found, and their manufacturers. Journalists of the Hi-Tech Mail.ru publication suggested that experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade could get their hands on new irons with support for voice control. “This is a fairly standard feature for modern smart devices,” the article says.
In February, Vasily Shpak said that he saw no prerequisites for a deficit in the Russian phone market. “It seems to me that we have so many smartphones in warehouses that there will definitely be no interruptions with smartphones,” the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized.
