Irish scientists with musician create pain-relieving song
Scientists from University College Dublin have partnered with a musician to create a song that can reduce the intensity of different types of pain. The All of Us track has shown effectiveness on volunteers, writes the Daily Mail .
One of the creators of healing music, Dr. Claire Howlin, said that the song used instrumental, orchestral and vocal elements to “create a sense of wonder” for patients. The musician Anatole helped the scientists realize the plan. With it, they wanted to create something that would help people feel stronger and forget about pain, including by releasing dopamine (the hormone of happiness).
The song was tested on 286 volunteers who suffered from severe acute pain, including headache, menstrual pain, back pain, and general muscle pain. Participants in the trials noted a decrease in the intensity of pain and discomfort.
Recall that at the end of 2020, German scientists experimentally found out that some pain sensations can crowd out others. And in the spring of 2021, researchers explained why redheads feel less pain.
