Iranian physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who headed the secret AMAD program in which Tehran developed a nuclear warhead for a ballistic missile, could have been killed by the Israeli company Smart Shooter's SMASH Hopper, also known as the Light Remote-Controlled Weapon Station (LRCWS). The possible murder weapon is called The Drive.
The American edition recalls that the specified system combines small arms equipped with an intelligent SMASH 2000 sight and a remotely controlled installation, which, according to the manufacturer, can be mounted on a tripod, ground support or vehicle. The Drive notes that a matching scope automatically detects and locks onto targets, giving the operator the optimal moment to fire.
The publication writes that the SMASH Hopper turret allows, in addition to remote control, for example, from a tablet, and manual control. “It is therefore possible that the strike team could have installed a remotely controlled turret like the SMASH Hopper in a Nissan pickup truck and operated it remotely from somewhere nearby,” notes The Drive.
The Iranian press reported on the death of Fakhrizade on November 27. Tehran blamed Israel for the incident.
In December 2019, The Drive wrote that the United States is using a secret AGM-114R9X Hellfire missile (“Hellfire”) for the targeted destruction of criminals abroad, the warhead of which is a penetrator formed by six folding blades.
