Iran called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to prevent violations of its state border. This was stated by the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Sayed Khatibzadeh, quoted by Interfax.
“We seriously warn all parties to take all necessary measures in this regard,” he stressed. Khatibzade added that Tehran is closely monitoring the situation on its borders.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman called on the countries to respect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and stop hostilities. Tehran believes that the parties should start negotiations. In this they are ready to assist both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides. RIA Novosti recalls that earlier there were reports from Iran that shells fired during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh hit its territory.
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia on Saturday, October 3, reported about three planes of the Azerbaijani Air Force shot down in Nagorno-Karabakh. It is said that fighting continues in the northern and southern directions of the Karabakh border.
