Vice-President of Iran, head of the Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami revealed plans to enrich uranium. According to him, the Iranian authorities are not going to exceed the saturation level of 60 percent, RIA Novosti reports.

Iran refused to exceed the 60 percent uranium enrichment level, even if the negotiators in Vienna do not come to an agreement, and Washington does not return to the JCPOA and lift sanctions on Tehran. “No,” Eslami answered the relevant question.

“All our goals in terms of uranium enrichment are to meet our industrial, production needs, as well as the needs of our consumers for those goods that our country and our population need today. All our atomic activities are carried out within the framework of agreements, charters and resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ”the head of the AEOI stressed.

Earlier, the IAEA confirmed that uranium was enriched up to 60 percent at a nuclear facility in the Iranian city of Natanz. The authorities of the country stated that the enrichment rate of the UF6 produced is 55.3 percent.

In 2015, Britain, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, France and Iran signed a nuclear deal – the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). It meant lifting sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear program. In May 2018, former US President Trump announced the country's withdrawal from the JCPOA and restored sanctions against Tehran.
