The United States said it was ready to help defend the country.
Iran is ready to launch an attack on Israel in the coming hours. The statement was made by U.S. and Israeli officials after Israeli forces launched a ground invasion of southern Lebanon against the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah.

A senior White House official said the United States “actively supports defense measures to protect Israel from this attack,” suggesting that a direct attack on Israel “would have serious consequences for Iran.”
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the exact scale of a possible Iranian attack was not known, but it could involve a combination of drones and missiles. The US Embassy in Israel has ordered its staff to return home and be prepared to go into hiding.
Earlier it was said that the success of Israeli troops in southern Lebanon as part of the operation against Hezbollah forces will give Israel several years of “rest”. But Iran may resume its armed groups.
