Iran has imposed sanctions on US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other US officials. Irib News writes about this with reference to the press secretary of the country's Foreign Ministry Said Khatibzade.
In addition to them, the US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin, the former head of the Pentagon Mark Esper, and Acting US Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller; CIA chief Gina Haspel; and former Trump national security adviser John Bolton. Action will also be taken against former US special envoy for Iran Brian Hook and current special envoy Elliot Abrams, as well as Director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Andrea Gaki.
The sanctions were introduced as part of the law “on counteracting human rights violations, adventurous and terrorist actions of the United States in the region.” The politicians were also accused of human rights violations and terrorism against Iran and its citizens.
On January 12, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger predicted a nuclear crisis for the countries of the Middle East, which could occur if the United States returned to a nuclear deal with Iran.
