Iran, expecting retaliatory strike from Israel, withdraws its oil tankers – BILD

A large number of tankers were anchored near Kharg Island several days ago, but now they have left the area.

Iranian oil tankers have entered international waters due to a possible Israeli strike on Iran's largest oil terminal. The Israeli authorities did indeed threaten such a response to the latest massive strike against Iran.

BILD wrote about this.

Satellite images reportedly show that just a few days ago a large number of tankers were anchored off Kharg Island, which is called the oil island. About 90% of Iranian oil exports pass through this strategically important hub.

However, on Friday, October 4, the port was suddenly empty. Satellite images show that the tankers have disappeared. Independent oil transportation tracking service TankerTrackers also confirmed that Iran has withdrawn its huge VLCC supertankers from the waters off Kharg Island.

According to one version, US President Joe Biden played a significant role in the Iranian authorities' panicked reaction. On October 3, at a press conference, one of the journalists asked him about possible Israeli strikes on Iran's oil infrastructure. Biden managed to say that he was “negotiating on this issue,” but then cut his answer short.

Recall that BILD reported that US presidential candidate Donald Trump called on Israel to strike Iran's nuclear facilities in the event of aggression. He also criticized Joe Biden for his soft stance on Iran.
