According to inside information, the iPhone 13 will add the ability to recognize faces with masks and glasses. Apple decided to upgrade the existing Face ID capabilities, because many users during the pandemic are faced with the blocking of their iPhones due to the fact that the system simply cannot recognize them in masks and locks the phone. Earlier, to solve this problem, the ability to unlock through the Apple Watch was added.
The source reports that this information was provided by a well-known authoritative insider John Prosser. According to him, to test new functions, employees of the company put on masks and even glasses and try to get verified in Face ID. But before this, you need to register in the iPhone without them.
It is noted that the problem with face recognition is not being solved with the help of a software update for Face ID, but with the help of an updated version of face sensors. According to Prosser, the tool to solve this problem was the iPhone 13 case, a prototype of which is now being used on the “twelfth” iPhones tested. These cases incorporate sensors with a new face scanning model.
It is noted that the system has successfully passed the tests, authenticates faces in masks and glasses, and, if necessary, unlocks iPhones.
