Apple will release the iPhone 12s series smartphones in 2021. This is reported by the Chinese edition ChinaMobole with reference to its own sources.
Smartphones planned for the second half of the year will differ slightly from the devices of the current generation. Insiders report that in this regard, Apple has decided to abandon the name iPhone 13. The company is likely to postpone the release of the iPhone 13 to 2022, introducing in 2021 a series of devices called the iPhone 12s.
The journalists noted that the next generation devices should receive a reduced screen cutout for the Face ID sensor and a display with a refresh rate of 120 hertz. Also, all smartphones of the line, and not just the most expensive ones, will receive a camera with a lidar. The gadgets will come with the new Apple A15 Bionic chip.
At the same time, the company will keep the same number of devices as in 2020. Apple could probably launch the iPhone 12s, 12s mini, 12s Pro and 12s Pro Max.
The last smartphone from Apple with the S postfix in the name was announced in September 2018. The company released the iPhone Xs, which in turn turned out to be an improved version of the iPhone X introduced in 2017.
Earlier, the authoritative insider Ming-Chi Kuo said that the new line of Apple smartphones will enter the market without delay. The company has taken into account the problems associated with the release of the iPhone 12 series caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and intends to introduce the new generation just in time.
