After two years of investigation, the case of soccer superstar Lionel Messi, who was suspected of financial fraud at charity matches in Spain, has been closed. Messi, his father Jorge Horacio, his brother Rodrigo and the foundation of the Argentine professional were accused of, among other things, falsification of accounts, tax fraud and money laundering. According to media reports, a former employee of the “Fundación Leo Messi” filed a complaint in June 2019 and assured that the foundation had illegally enriched itself by organizing charity games.
