— Today's multilateral institutions, created after World War II, reflect the power and economic dynamics of that time, and therefore need to be reformed,— noted the Secretary General.

He recalled that soon, on the eve of the opening of the next session of the UN General Assembly, a high-level week with the participation of heads of state and government will take place.

— We gather at a time when humanity faces enormous challenges — from worsening climate change to escalating conflicts, a global cost of living crisis, soaring inequality and dramatic technological disruptions, — added the UN representative.

According to Guterres, a multipolar world needs strong, reformed multilateral institutions based on the UN Charter and international law.

— My message to world leaders will be clear: now is not the time for posturing or positioning. This is not the time for indifference or indecisiveness. This is a time to come together to make real, practical decisions, — emphasized the Secretary General.

High-level week of the UN General Assembly will be held on 19 — September 25 in New York.

Earlier, the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko said that Ukraine had initiated the process of introducing pseudo-elections that the invaders are holding in temporarily occupied territories into the resolution of the UN General Assembly.
