Employees of the Institute of Oceanology (IO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be able to go on expeditions on research vessels only with a vaccination against coronavirus or after a previous illness. The corresponding order of the director of the institute was published on Thursday on the website of the scientific organization.

“To allow the following categories of persons from August 2, 2021, to expedition activities on the floating facilities of the IO RAS: those who have received a preventive vaccination against a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19); those who have had a disease of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) over the past six months,” document.

It is noted that in connection with the emergence of new strains of coronavirus, the risk of infection of employees of the IO RAS, employees of third-party organizations and students of educational institutions increases during the period of scientific expeditions on floating facilities assigned to the Institute.

“Any person, whether it is a crew member, scientist, or providing scientific research, a student who is on a floating facility during scientific expeditions, is potentially a target for COVID-19, and if infected, could endanger the life and health of those around him. persons, as well as to make it impossible to conduct scientific research, “- added the institute.
