Installation of American toilet on the ISS
Astronauts Michael Hopkins and Shannon Walker are installing an American-made toilet on the International Space Station, NASA reports to RIA Novosti.
It is specified that we are talking about the UWMS toilet, which was developed “taking into account the wishes of the astronauts.” It will be located in the Tranquility module. The management stressed that the new toilet has a design that is 65% more compact and 40% lighter than the Russian one.
The ISS now has two Russian-made toilets located in the Zvezda and Tranquility modules. In October, the Cygnus freighter delivered an American-made toilet to the station.
Earlier it was reported that on board the International Space Station the Russian system for obtaining oxygen “Electron-VM” was again out of order, and in the American segment of the ISS there was a failure in the power supply system.
