Instagram users will need to enter their date of birth to continue using the social network. This is stated in a post from Facebook, the owner of Instagram. The company took this step to ensure the safety of children and adolescents online.
The innovations will affect only those who have not indicated their date of birth earlier. Now, when they open the application, they will see notifications asking them to enter their details. If a person ignores this requirement for a long time, then in the end he will not be able to log into his account.
Facebook recalled that now Instagram already has some age restrictions. For example, user accounts under 16 are automatically created private. In addition, adults cannot send private messages to minors who are not subscribed to them.
Facebook developers understand that not all users will honestly write their age. They plan to solve this problem with the help of artificial intelligence. It will analyze posts in which the user is congratulated on his birthday, and thus check the information for accuracy.
