The social network Instagram is testing a feature that allows users to post photos and videos from computers. This was announced by Christine Pye, spokeswoman for Facebook, which owns the app.
“We know that many people access Instagram from their computers. To improve this process, we are now testing the ability to create messages to the Instagram feed through the browser, “- quoted her Bloomberg.
Instagram was founded in 2010. The management of the social network has long opposed the creation of a desktop version, since the application was originally conceived specifically for smartphone users. However, over time, Bloomberg notes, people began to use third-party services more often, which allow them to publish content from computers.
Before the company officially announced the new feature, social media users drew attention to it: some of them had the ability to download photos and videos from the desktop version. The appearance of such an opportunity was reported back in May, in particular, the developer of mobile applications Alessandro Paluzzi wrote about this.

Social media expert and consultant Matt Navarra admitted that Instagram's decision to add the ability to post from computers is part of a larger roadmap for the platform. He believes that this will entice users from competitors – TikTok and YouTube.
On June 23, Instagram users in Russia have the opportunity to add music to their stories. This feature was previously available in the United States and some other countries.
