Instagram and Facebook have begun testing the ability for users to hide their likes on their posts. This is reported by Techcrunch. In 2019, Instagram already tested a similar function, but then the social network automatically hid the likes of a certain part of users, and this experiment was recognized as a failure.
In the new test, available to a small number of social network users, it will be possible to independently choose whether to hide or show likes. Instagram believes this will help reduce the social pressure on users due to concerns about the number of likes. The company wanted to tackle this problem earlier, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they had to postpone the issue.
