Influential Democrat named the start date for the transfer of power to Biden

The influential member of the US Democratic Party, Ron Kline, said that the deadline for the transfer of power to candidate Joe Biden has been set, TASS reports, citing NBC. The procedure is due to start next week.

“What we really want to see next week … is for the US General Services Administration to publish an estimate,” said Kline.

By law, the head of the General Services Administration (GSA), which is also responsible for the transfer of power from one president to another, must sign documents on the allocation of budget funds to the headquarters of the winning candidate to ensure the transfer of power. In 2020, this amount is six million dollars.

However, the head of the GSA, Emily Murphy, appointed by the current president of the United States, has not yet signed the necessary documents. Biden's headquarters stated that this does not allow the president-elect to conduct telephone conversations with foreign leaders via a dedicated communication channel, and his assistants – to work with classified documents in a separate room.

Ron Kline is expected to be named White House chief of staff after Biden takes over.

The US presidential election took place on November 3. Many media outlets, based on statistical data, declared Biden the winner, but Trump refused to admit defeat, claiming that the opponent's result was provided unfairly.
