Inflation in Russia has broken a multi-year record

Rosstat: inflation from the beginning of the year to December 27 reached 8.26 percent

Inflation in Russia since the beginning of the year by December 27 has reached 8.26 percent, according to Rosstat data. In 2021, according to preliminary data, inflation was 8.39 percent. The rise in prices has broken a multi-year record, we are talking about the maximum since 2015.

From December 21 to December 27, inflation was 0.26 percent. Of the products, buckwheat, sausages, chicken eggs, butter and flour rose the most in a week. From non-food products, prices rose for toothpaste, matches, toothbrushes. Gasoline rose in price by 0.1 percent, diesel fuel cost more by 0.2 percent.

Among the goods that have risen in price the most by December 27 from the end of December 2020 are chicken (plus 26.78 percent), pork (plus 15.73 percent), beef (14.93 percent), lamb (13.87 percent).

Earlier, the chairman of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina predicted that the inflation rate in the country at the end of the year would be slightly more than eight percent. “This is a lot, this is more than our target of four percent,” the head of the regulator emphasized.
