If the situation with coronavirus in Russia does not stabilize, the authorities will introduce a lockdown, said Georgy Vikulov, director of the Research Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections, immunologist, infectious disease specialist, to Ura.ru.
He noted that the mortality rate from COVID-19 among doctors remains at a fairly high level.
“In fact, it’s like fighting the pathogen during martial law. That is why we are close to lockdown, ”Vikulov said.
He believes that if positive dynamics do not begin by mid-July, there will be a tightening.
“I’m not that I think, I know that if the situation does not level out, there will be tougher measures. All these scenarios have already been written, ”the expert noted.
The head of the laboratory of the Ivanovsky Research Institute of Virology, Professor Alexander Butenko, in turn, added that the authorities have always tried to find a balance between the interests of business and healthcare.
To date, 25,142 cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Russia. The incidence rate in Russia approached the peak values of the second wave.
At the same time, the coronavirus mutated in such a way that it began to disguise itself as ARVI. According to doctors, it is currently difficult to independently distinguish coronavirus from seasonal colds. Due to the similarity of the symptoms of ARVI and COVID-19, the Moscow authorities decided to equate all patients with ARVI with patients with coronavirus up to a negative PCR test. Such patients and those living with them will be given a rapid test for antigen to coronavirus. These patients will also have to comply with a self-isolation regimen.
